IMG_0270It’s really useful to freeze things – a moment in time;a person mid-fall; a flower opening; a bird in flight; the cat’s tongue as it drinks. The freeze frame allows us to see things as they really are and astonish us into describing the thing by what it does instead of its simple appearance. It becomes a thing of potential.

The picture I have here looks like a foot frozen in time. It’s a stone that normally looks unremarkable because the sand covers everything except the top of it. Here it is laid bare by a rare high tide coupled with a blasting wind.

Life is like this. It moves fast. Freeze it in meditation and new discoveries emerge.
